“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experiences” – Eleanor Roosevelt
I love quotes. They might be silly and cliche, but I have a ton of quotes that I have saved on my phone, or ones that I have memorized from over the years. The one above is one of my favorite quotes of all time. I revert back to it quite frequently when thinking about what I want in life – the purpose is to live life, taste experience to the utmost. I’m a firm believer in this mantra. I think I might have my blog post start with random quotes that I have loved along the journey so far & continue to fall for.
A lot has happened in the 3+ months since I’ve written. I’ve been sticking to my New Year’s resolution of living in the moment, not letting precious time fly by that I haven’t thoroughly loved or appreciated. When it came time to write I felt I had nothing to say, which is odd for a communications major whose first love is writing. But here I am! Let’s catch you all up to speed.
In January my best friend Jen came to visit! She was here for a long weekend and it was so refreshing to have a bit of home here with me. The following weekend Mark & I went to see Eric Church in Green Bay and per usual, he was amazing.
February brought Valentine’s Day and disputing my ticket I had gotten for making a left turn where a no left turn sign resided. For the record: I didn’t see the sign! It was an honest mistake while I was trying to get to the cleaners.
March has seen some really beautiful days! The snow has been light in the month (finger’s crossed I am not jinxing things). It’s said to have been a “mild” Wisconsin winter, which seems like crap to me because we had a week of -27 degrees and tons of snow! Currently Mark & I are focusing on looking at dogs. Our apartment complex has a pretty strict weight limit (25-30 lbs max) and we’re struggling to find a dog that we like in the weight bracket. Many of you know that I grew up with my beloved Doxie, Thunder, and I’m slowly easing Mark into the idea of one. He seems okay with a black & tan long-hair Doxie, so fingers crossed people!
For Lent, I decided to give up drinking & I’ve been pretty strict about it. I’m using the 40
days as a time to focus on my health, fitness & overall wellness. I’m an Advocare distributor & I live and breath by the products. So during these 40 days, I’m doing a 24 day challenge to reset my routine & kick start my metabolism. I’ve been heavily focusing on clean eating, hearty (but healthy) recipes, yoga and strength training & I decided I’m going to add tabs on my blog for both fitness & recipes so I can share some of the things I’m doing health-wise. Stay tuned for those additions!
Overall, life is good. Thanks for tuning in!
